Gone in a Swirl

"Her hula hoop twirled above her hips as she swayed off, singing to herself: 'Red and yellow and pink and green, Purple and orange and blue.'"

And off she goes! Annabelle's hula hoop spinning, music notes drifting, the world blurring with colour and movement. I tried to capture that feeling of a child disappearing into pure joy.

An original painting from the children’s book The Most Magnificent Pot of Gold. The works are currently on exhibition across three Queensland galleries — Grasslands Gallery in Tambo, Bushmans Artisan Gallery in Blackall, and New Creation Gallery in St George — running from 17 April to October 2026, and are available for purchase online and in the galleries. All paintings will be delivered upon the close of the exhibition in October.
