This painting came from a quiet moment of watching the light change over the hills near home. There's something about that golden hour — when the paddocks turn soft and pink and the whole valley seems to hold its breath — that I wanted to capture rather than just record. I let the colours run a little wild here, layering blush pinks and lilacs into the greens and ochres, because that's closer to how it felt than how it looked.

The wildflowers in the foreground were the last thing I added, and somehow they pulled the whole piece together — a reminder that even the most ordinary farmland has its own quiet abundance if you take the time to notice it. This one is close to my heart; it's as much about slowing down as it is about the landscape itself.
