Megan's father tending the hive — a letter to future beekeepers from Wes McRae, Apiculture Beekeeper.

This painting holds a real letter — written by a real beekeeper, Wes McRae, to future bee keepers. It was such a privilege to paint it into the book. The orange garden, the bees, the handwritten words. I hope it makes children want to look a little more closely at the world around them.

An original painting from the children’s book The Most Magnificent Pot of Gold. The works are currently on exhibition across three Queensland Galleries - Grasslands Gallery in Tambo, Bushmans Artisan Gallery in Blackall and New Creation Gallery in St George - running from 17 April – 10 October 2026. Purchased paintings will be delivered upon the close of the exhibition in October.
